Performance Under de-Construction 2023

The singer and artist Sainkho Namtchylak develops a performance for the DOMENIG STEINHAUS 2023, which through singing and accompanying calligraphy on silk transcends the cultural dimension of the Carinthian landscape, which is also inscribed in the STEINHAUS, and creates a connection to further, international cultural spaces. Inspired by the special spatial structure of the STEINHAUS, the artist fuses music, voice, body and painting into an immediate overall experience. In context to the architecture, traditional perceptions of matter and sound are deconstructed as well as fixed built forms and get a reinterpretation through the action on the soft, lucid fabric to enter into a further discourse in an artist:inside conversation with the visitors.

Performance in dialogue: Afterwards (approx. 20:30) there will be a conversation with the artist, the curator and the audience over a small buffet.

Under de-Construction:

Günther Domenig created a walk-in sculpture that opens up a space for experimentation, encounters and art in the rural area with the STEINHAUS. Edges, corners, depths and heights impress in generous spatiality as well as angular concentration and encourage to open one’s perception. For some time now, the DOMENIG STEINHAUS has been used for performances. Starting in 2021, curator Tina Perisutti will invite international artists to perform in the DOMENIG STEINHAUS in the performance series “Under de-Construction”, sponsored by the BMKÖS.

Cost admission: € 18,00
Reduced cost admission: € 12.00 for children, people in education, Kulturpass Kärnten.

Please order tickets in advance by email to info@domenigsteinhaus.at.

Children workshops DOMENIG STEINHAUS with all senses

Duration: 1,5 Hours, by appointment only

Possible dates: Fr, 26. May, 2., 9., 16., 30. June, 9:00-10:30 and on request

DOMENIG STEINHAUS is very concerned to sensitize kindergarten children, pupils and students to architecture and building culture. If you consider architecture as a designed living space, it surrounds us all at all times and has an effect on us. The way we perceive buildings and spaces also has a lot to do with our physical perception.

In the mediation work of the DOMENIG STEINHAUS, the stone house can be experienced as a social space that we animate and play with. Our exploration of the house for the perception of architecture and space is multi-perspectival and sensual. Combining theory and practice, we experiment with artistic techniques, explore dimensions of the spaces and physically relate to them. The goal is for children and young people to acquire a free, critical judgment of this specific place and to open up independent perception and action for them.

Our educational programs are designed for all interested schools and ages – no special prior knowledge is necessary.

Suitable for interdisciplinary lessons such as geography, history, ways of life, habitats, visual education.
