After several years of preparation, the Center for Choreography Bleiburg\/Pliberk organizes
\nthe first edition of the LABOR<\/strong> in
\ncooperation with the DOMENIG STEINHAUS at Steindorf Lake Ossiach. From August 5 to 11<\/strong>, up-and-coming choreographers will meet dancers<\/strong>
\nand develop every day new short pieces at special places in the DOMENIG STEINHAUS.
\nDuring the LABOR<\/strong>, the artists will be accompanied by mentor Guido Markowitz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On August 11, at 7 p.m., a final showing<\/strong> will take place, where selected short pieces
\nof the LABOR will be presented. After the showing there will be a round of talks with the artists.<\/p>\n

LABOR<\/strong> serves as an incubator for the next generation of artists and supports them in developing their own
\nchoreographic language and test different compositional tools.
\ncompositional tools. The LABOR<\/strong> also strengthens networking and has been designed to promote
\nemerging choreographic and dance talents throughout Europe and worldwide.<\/p>\n

Every day a new choreographic task.<\/strong>
\nEvery day a new constellation.<\/strong>
\nEvery day a new location.<\/strong>
\nEvery day a new short piece.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A major focus is on site-specific work with the special conditions in the
\nDOMENIG STEINHAUS. At the end of the lab, the choreographers will have time to delve more deeply into selected
\nselected short pieces and to further elaborate them for the final public showing.
\nFor the first edition of LABOR, 2 choreographers and 6 dancers were selected from the submissions of 2
\nchoreographers and 6 dancers from 6 countries (Austria, Italy, Australia, France,
\nIsrael, the Netherlands).<\/p>\n

This intensive exchange is meant to provide both a choreographic proving ground with personal
\nmentoring as well as international networking. The Center for Choreography
\nBleiburg\/Pliberk also strives to establish a lasting collaboration with the artists
\nand to involve them in other CCB formats, such as the Long Night of Dance,
\nfor example.<\/p>\n

The LABOR<\/strong> will take place in DOMENIG STEINHAUS in 2023.<\/p>\n

Statement Guido Markowitz<\/strong>, Mentor: “The new wild ones should set out and develop under my guidance and reflection, search for their dance language and strengthen it. The choreographers should
\nartistically, implement thematically given concepts and fill them with their own ideas.
\nThe venue will play a very important role. The location inspires and
\ngives areas.”<\/p>\n

\nvarious unusual spatial experiences to emerge.”<\/p>\n
